Country of Origin : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs were developed in the Alapaha River region of southern Georgia in the United States.

Original Purpose : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog was developed as a plantation guardian and livestock dog.

Today’s Uses : Companion, guardian and livestock dog.

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs are a very sturdy, well-balanced, and muscular dog who is known for their protectiveness of their family.

Breed Standard

Weight : Male Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog should weigh 70 – 100 lbs / Female Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs typically weigh between 60 – 80 lbs.

Height : Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog males: 20 – 24 inches; Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog females: 18 – 22 inches.

Head : Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs head should be large and broad, flat across the skull and square in appearance. Cheeks should be muscular and pronounced. 

Eyes : Eyes can be of any color including marble. Asymmetrical coloring of the eyes will also occur and is NOT considered a fault.

Muzzle : Muzzle length should be 2 – 3 inches. Larger headed dogs can have a slightly longer muzzle within proportion. Muzzle should be square and broad with a strong well muscled under jaw. Stop should be well defined and present. Pigmented lips are preferred but not required.

Bite : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog (ABBB) should have a definite underbite but teeth should not be visible when mouth is closed. Scissor bite is acceptable but not preferred.

Ears : Rose-ears are preferred. 

Body : The ABBB should be broad, robust, straight, and well-balanced. The chest should NOT be narrow or excessively wide. The elbows should NOT be angled out or pulled in.

Shoulders : Muscular with wide sloping blades. The front should be straight and well balanced. Elbows should not be bowed. 

Legs : Legs should be strong and straight. Front legs should not set close together nor far apart. Rear legs
should have proper angulation.

Coat : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog’s coat is short and stiff coat with a soft under coat. 

Color : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog can be any shade of merle or brindle. Any solid color and posses a tri color pattern without fault.

Temperament : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is devoted and obedient. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog will keenly defend its family and home. Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs when properly socialized is good with children and loves human companionship. It is a breed of dog that makes an excellent family dog and watch dog.  Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs are excellent with children but should be properly trained and socialized early.

Trainability : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog should be obedience trained as a puppy. This breed of dog can be territorial if not properly socialized at a young age. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is an intelligent breed and adapts easily to training.

Activity Level : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog requires a minimum of an average sized yard to fulfill its daily activity needs. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog enjoys daily exercise and will benefit from long walks. 

Life Expectancy : The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog can live an average life of 10-12 years.
